Our Pledge

For those within MED

The Medical Education Directorate (MED) team work hard to deliver high quality training and education alongside the challenges of clinical work but we miss an opportunity if we do not strive for improvement. As a team we have reflected on the content of the WPSMS report and are committed to ensuring the safety of everyone while are work or in the company of work colleagues.

We have agreed to commit to the following pledge:

1. We will actively work to eradicate sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace.

2. We will promote a culture that fosters openness and transparency, and does not tolerate unwanted, harmful or inappropriate behaviours, including sexual misconduct.

3. We will work with the wider organisation and our partners to ensure reporting systems are transparent, fair and accountable, that doctors and medical students have confidence in.

4. We will work to ensure appropriate, specific, and clear training is in place to identify these behaviours, promote active bystanders and to support those involved in disclosures.

For our trainers & trainees

We acknowledge that colleagues and trainees outside of the MED team will also want to commit and strive for improvement. We welcome you to join us by committing to the following pledge:

1. I will ensure my behaviour is of a high standard and aim to be an active bystander

2. I will role model behaviours that fosters A culture of openness and transparency, and does not tolerate unwanted, harmful or inappropriate behaviours, including sexual misconduct.

3. I will attend educational offerings to gain knowledge and skills to help eradicate sexual misconduct in the workplace, including active bystander training.

4. I will familiarise myself with the processes for reporting sexual misconduct and feel empowered to report behaviours which fall short of expected standards.
