Intensive Care Medicine

Intensive Care Medicine

Resources on subspecialty training in ICM.

There is the opportunity for EM trainees to dual accredit in Intensive Care Medicine. A number of our trainees have done this in the past and have gone onto Consultant posts in both EM and ICM within the region.

The Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine runs competitive recruitment for those wishing to pursue this career pathway. FICM will advise on training time but typically this will extend your training by 2 to 3 years.

Candidates who CCT in ICM and EM are required to register with both FICM and RCEM. Interested trainees should contact their educational supervisor and training programme director at an early stage in training who can provide appropriate advice, support and contacts from the local ICM faculty.
