Laboratories
The laboratory services are split into three sections: blood science, cell science and gene science.
Blood Science
Blood Sciences comprises of Haematology, Biochemistry and Blood transfusion across a variety of sites in Lothian as well as some tertiary referral services.
Cell Science
Cell science is managed by Amanda Malham and comprises Microbiology, Pathology, Cytology, Virology and Mortuary services.
Gene Science
Gene Sciences comprises of NSS funded services and NHS Lothian funded local services. In the NSS grouping, there are the Cytogenetics services and Molecular Genetics.
