Clinical practice built on firm Foundations
The Foundation programme in NHS Lothian is aligned to the National Foundation Curriculum.
FYs during the COVID-19 Crisis
Foundation doctors hold mostly inpatient positions, responsible for covering all general and subspecialty positions throughout medicine and surgery.
As such, FYs are an essential staff group in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of you have been allocated to roles either in unfamiliar environments, or to the hospitals' "COVID Zones".
The MED is here to support you with any of these moves, and with your training, supervision and support along the way.
Although we no longer anticipate the need to redeploy trainees, the main COVID-19 page has full details of up-to-date guidance including reskilling sessions.
