About The Royal Ed

The Royal Edinburgh Hospital is a specialist hospital for the provision of psychiatric care and treatment to patients from Edinburgh and the Lothians, and is part of REAS (Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Associated Services).

It is situated in the Morningside area of the city and has 29 wards and a total of 570 beds. There are a number of inpatient units including five general adult acute wards, an intensive psychiatric care unit and three rehabilitation wards.

There are wards for patients over the age of 65 including those with functional and organic illnesses and specialist services for young people, forensic patients, learning disability patients, eating disorders and those with acquired brain injury on site.
