Induction Information

Medical Staff Inductions at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh are held the first Wednesday of February, April, August and December. This takes place between the Chancellors Building and the Postgraduate Education Centre from 8:30am to 11am. A room has been allocated for you and this will be in your confirmation email from the Education Coordinator at the RIE.

These inductions are compulsory for medical staff who are new to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh or are returning to NHS Lothian and have not attended an NHS Lothian Induction within the last 2 years. If you have attended an NHS Lothian Induction within the last 2 years, you are not required to attend.

On the day you will meet the Associate Director of Medical Education and the Education Coordinator for the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as well as hear from our Pharmacy, Occupational Health, HAN and IT teams.

You will receive your IT and Trak access details, Sunray card and map of the hospital. The form for your ID badge has been mailed to you for printing and completion, but will be available on the day. You have been allocated a time to obtain your ID badge at the Equans Facilities Management Building. Please do not swap these times with your colleagues and remember to bring a form of identification, e.g. Drivers license or passport.
