Infectious Diseases WGH

Welcome to your 10 week placement in Regional Infectious Diseases Unit at the Western General Hospital.

During your time on placement, you will have the following learning opportunities:
- Observed examinations
- Communication and Presentation
- History Taking
- Shadowing Ward Pharmacist
- Session with Health Care Support Worker
- 2 Sessions with the Nursing staff

You will be working on Wards 42 and 43 during your time with us.

 
First day arrangements

Please report to the main reception at Ward 42 at 9am, you will be met by Lyn Steel. If there are any problems, Lyn can be contacted on 0131 537 2841 or at lyn.steel@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk.

You will be taken to Seminar Room to meet Dr Meghan Perry, who will provide an introduction to your placement and answer any questions you have at that time. You will be advised what ward you will assigned to and you will be taken around the wards.

Name badges

Please make sure you bring your university ID badge and pass. This will need to be worn at all times within the hospital.
