Medical Education Centre at WGH

The Medical Education Centre at the Western site is situated on the 3rd floor of the main Outpatients Building although there several other educational locations for teaching and learning.

 
 

Clinical Skills & Assessment Centre

The Clinical Skills & Assessment Centre is used to hold meetings, exams, seminars and workshops.

CSAC has 2 flexible seminar rooms with audio/visual equipment, 4 rooms set up as 4-bedded clinical areas, and 14 smaller break-out rooms. There is also a dedicated space for Simulation training, with both fixed and portable cameras and a two-way intercom system linked to a control room.

Medical Education Centre

The Medical Education Centre is based on the 3rd floor of OPD and consists of 5 seminar rooms, 2 clinical skills rooms, 2 undergraduate computer labs (University of Edinburgh access only) and a lecture theatre on the 4th floor.

There is a bright, spacious lounge to have lunch or coffee, break-out groups, or a quiet place to study. Video conferencing is available in Seminar Room 4, and all seminar rooms are equipped with standard audio/visual equipment for presentations.

The main MED office is located within MEC reception.

Scottish Health Service Centre

The SHSC Conference & Training Centre is a superb venue in the heart of Edinburgh, ideal for conferences, meetings, training, exhibitions and demonstrations.

There is a training room that has 8 computers and can be used by NHS staff from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, when available.

WGH Library

The WGH Library is located in the Medical Education Centre on the 3rd floor above the Outpatients entrance in the Western General Hospital.

NHS Lothian staff can join Edinburgh University Library as members of the public or apply for other Edinburgh University Library membership options if appropriate and on production of the required documentation. Information regarding Edinburgh University Library membership is available on the Joining the Library web pages. The Library membership card provides access to various Edinburgh University Libraries but please be aware that during exam periods access may be restricted to some of them.

The services offered depend on the category of the Library membership applied for and might include access to study spaces and consultation of print material, borrowing privileges and Wi-Fi.
