Our development programmes have been designed to give a structure and direction to your personal growth. It can also be used as a framework to optimize your CV for future job applications.
Your clinical attachments will offer opportunities to improve your clinical and management skills; they will also offer opportunities for education, leadership, simulation development and improvement. Our programmes provide a theoretical base for developing these skills and a structure to measure and reward your efforts.
Each programme consists of 3 levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. You can take part in as many programmes as you wish however in order to progress you must complete the levels in order (ie you cannot be awarded Gold without having completed Bronze and Silver)
"Learning to Lead" designed to help you assess and develop your leadership capabilities.
"Skills for Simulation" a programme to develop your skills in facilitating and leading simulation training
"Learning to Improve" designed to develop your quality improvement skills and help produce projects that lead to meaningful improvement
"Training to Teach" will develop your skills as an educator
Getting started
Starting the Clinician Development Programme is simple.
- Have a look through the programmes
- After picking your programme, email CDF@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk to confirm your interest in starting the programme
- Work through the Bronze section
- Once you have completed all parts of the Bronze section send an email with your accompanying evidence to CDF@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk
- Your Bronze level certificate will be sent to you with instructions on how to sign up for Silver and Gold levels should you wish to
